Monday Blues… Have a cocktail, while you are at it, make it with Bacardi!!!
Not sure how many of you know but my very first true work love was with Bacardi, USA. I will always treasure all the sweet memories, the 9 years I was there and all the wonderful friends and family I made. Most importantly, I will always implement and practice what I learned at Bacardi in my current role as a "momprenuer". *wink
National Rum Day was this past Thursday, August 16th. What better reason and "excuse" to have some friends over and celebrate with some Bacardi rum.
To host a fun and sweet celebration a la "Bacardi" you could have a small little set up such as this:
All you need is a signature drink. Working with one of the many great spirits Bacardi carries, you can choose from vodka, scotch, tequila and so many other selections, they carry everything. I chose the Bacardi watermelon Rum to create the "Melontini" which is simple and easy and a great cocktail to enjoy with a light dinner. Also, being that Summer is now officially coming to an end, we can have one last hurrah with a delicious summer fruit such as watermelon.
A celebration doesn't have to be huge and complicated, as long as you have cute paper details (from my shop *wink) and your drink of choice (from Bacardi *wink) and of course, treats, it is sure to be a success.
I bought a small delicious vanilla cake at my local market and added the fun watermelon candies to the top and of course a topper. I also designed some favor tags that can be used for favor goody bags or in my case, I tied them with a little twine to mini bottles that make great gifts.
I created a yummy cocktail and served it in glasses from Pier One Imports. These darling little glasses come with a spoon for a yummy dessert but I decided that I was going to use them for shot servings, they worked out great!!! Really anything is so much cuter in a mini size right!!! Pull out what you have at home and make good use of it. I covered the rim in red sugar crystals and garnished with a small piece of watermelon on the rim. You can add any fruit of your choice and garnish/decorate according to your recipe.
I experimented with different mixers but I found that keeping it simple and using real watermelon juice was so refreshing and really delicious.
Here is the recipe for my version of a Bacardi Melontini.
*Equal parts of Bacardi Watermelon and Fresh Watermelon Juice ( You can buy at most markets or local specific juice markets)
Mix with Ice in a shaker and serve. To garnish the drinks I used mini watermelon slices.
I am sharing this incredible recipe from Barefoot Contessa for a delicious Watermelon Mojito.
Mojito's are a yummy and very tropical drink and there are so many fun twists and flavors you can experiment with.
So now that Summer is officially coming to an end and fall entertaining is right around the corner, be sure to save these ideas and post for your next outdoor summer or spring gathering.
