Aloha!
I've been so busy lately, I haven't had a chance to blog about anything. Today, I wanted to share this darling Luau sweet table I set up for Sabrina's end of school year party. Sabrina started school this year a few days after turning four. I can still remember how nervous I was about the whole process and about leaving my baby girl in the hands of someone else. I can also remember how grateful and assured I was after just one week of seeing her so happy, busy and entertained, learning, growing, maturing. Sabrina had a great half a year in school and we are excited about summer but will miss her class mates and her teacher dearly. Below is a little Summer inspiration, if any of you are throwing a LUAU.
I found a few of the items I used at the Dollar Tree, which made it economically friendly for me to share with you all. One of my Dollar finds are these adorable flamingos, they were attached to some plastic straws and I knew that if I swapped the plastic straws for the stripey trendy ones, I would take these little guys to a whole other cuteness level. =) I made blue jello and grape cups and sat them pretty as if to create the illusion of standing on water. They truly were too cute and the kids loved them. I also bought some containers that resemble palm trees/pineapples and used them for buckets to hold the green apple twizzlers (also a dollar find) My mom and hubby said they were pineapple, I thought clearly they looks like palm trees?? What do you think?
The night before the party, I was speaking to my friend Nancy about what I should make for a cute backdrop and she suggested I give a pineapple a try… Instantly LOVED IT!!!! and here is what I came up with…. A foam/poster board (Dollar Tree again) some yellow and green crepe paper and VOILA… (tutorial available at Hip Hostess class at Tutti Bambini) I made some homemade cupcakes which sunk (not sure what I did wrong) but still tasted yummy and I was able to cover the top with lots of Betty Crocker fluffy white frosting and then topped them with some adorable toppers!
Here is a look at the actual table, I brought and hung some lanterns and they instantly added such color to the set up.
I recruited Jeannette from Sweet Dough to whip up some gorgeous and delicious cookies for me.
Lucky for us, Barbie from Two Sweet Cakery is my cousin and our kiddies are in the same class. She loves to spoil us with goodies as these oreos that she made for the party.
Here are those little cute flamingo's again….. I even made my own umbrella's with coordinating paper (tutorials available at Hip Hostess classes @ Tutti Bambini)
Here is Sabrina heading home with the adorable gift her Teacher gave her and the rest of the students. We will miss her and always remember Mrs. K, she truly is a wonderful teacher and helped us through our first school year. =)
Now, who is ready for Summer….. WE ARE, WE ARE!!!!!
